Maison Moritz Prado Alsace wines

Maison Moritz Prado was founded in 2018 by Ghislain Moritz, an Alsatian winemaker, and Angela Prado, a Colombian wine enthusiast. Drawing on their experience in Burgundy, Portugal, and Romania, they chose Albé, a village perched between 400 and 500 meters above sea level in the Villé Valley, to establish their winery. This unique terroir, composed of schist, imparts exceptional minerality and freshness to the wines.

The estate covers 4,85 hectares of vines cultivated using organic farming methods, currently being converted to biodynamic practices. Environmentally friendly practices include working the soil with horses, hand-harvesting, and the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts.

Vinification is carried out plot by plot, with aging in stainless steel tanks, oak barrels, or stoneware amphorae, depending on the cuvée. The wines are unfiltered and have no added sulfites to preserve their authenticity. The ranges offered include Terroir de Roche (expressive, fresh, and mineral wines), single-vineyard selections (cuvées from specific plots highlighting the terroir), and "Nous Sommes Libres" (experimental wines, with no added sulfites, for a free expression of the grape).
