Thanvillé Castle
In the 11th century, a fortress stood on this site, tasked with guarding the entrance to the Villé Valley and collecting tolls on the ancient Salt Road. Today, it takes the form of a majestic castle on the plain, once surrounded by water, its current form dating from the 17th century. Preceded by a large square courtyard, its entrance is protected by a gatehouse tower so characteristic of the area.
Accompanied by a guide from the AOC (Association in the Shadow of the Castle), discover more than 10 centuries of history within the walls of Thanvillé Castle, one of the most beautiful residences in Alsace at the beginning of the 20th century, during a guided tour.
Thanvillé Castle is only open for guided tours (from May to September).
Bookings for guided historical tours of the castle can be made directly with the Villé Valley Tourist Office. During the summer months, fun tours for children are organized. Group tours are also available.
