Villé Valley Museum
The historic heart of Albé beats in the center of the village, with its museum of heritage, traditions, and folk arts. A must-see, steeped in history, the museum retraces the lives of the inhabitants of the Villé valley from the Ancien Régime to the end of the 19th century.
Housed in a fully restored 18th-century farmhouse, a visit to the museum is a journey through time that reveals all facets of the lives of these men and women who have bequeathed us true treasures: a know-how imbued with common sense, centuries-old traditions, remarkable constructions that have stood the test of time, and a way of life closely linked to nature.
The museum comprises several buildings: a Vosges-inspired farmhouse dating from 1709, a day laborer's house built in 1616, a former guardhouse, a distillery and a surprising sandstone pavilion from 1873 topped with a Mansard slate roof.
Inside, the Stube (main room of the house), the kitchen, the bedroom, the stable, the hayloft or even the schoolroom are all reconstructed, furnished and decorated rooms that will offer you an unforgettable immersive experience in a bygone era and daily life.
The museum is open from April to October.
