Church of St. Nicholas
A first chapel appears to have existed in Urbeis as early as the 16th century. In 1665, a chapel dedicated to "Saint Nicholas, at the top of the village" is recorded, probably next to the old cemetery. A new building was erected in 1752 in the center of the village, on the site of the current church. This small rectangular structure, still dedicated to Saint Nicholas, was demolished in 1789. Before the turmoil of the Revolution had reached the valley, the village built a new sanctuary, using stones salvaged from the ruins of Bilstein Castle.
