Jules Tower
The panoramic tower of Climont, or Jules Tower, was erected in 1897 by the Strasbourg section of the Vosges Club. Mr. Gérardin, owner of the summit of Climont, donated the land necessary for the construction of this tower.
Built in a neo-medieval style with a square plan, it is enhanced by a corbelled roof and an oriel window on the south side. This 17-meter-high tower, inaugurated in October 1897 by the authorities of the German Reich, has 78 steps and a commemorative plaque honoring Julius Euting, the renowned orientalist and founding president of the Vosges Club. The plaque is affixed to its entrance. Its construction cost 4,000 marks at the time.
