The Villé National Necropolis
The Villé National Cemetery contains the remains of soldiers who died for France during the fighting in the Vosges Mountains. Established in 1924, this cemetery holds the remains of 281 French soldiers, 62 of whom rest in individual graves. An ossuary preserves the remains of 219 others. Alongside these soldiers are buried ten Russian prisoners of war, nine of whom are in an ossuary, and one British soldier.
