A historical walking tour has been specially designed for leisurely strolls through Villé. The Tourist Office wanted to breathe new life into its "traditional" guided tour of Villé's town center by offering it via a practical and trendy communication tool: the smartphone. Hence the idea of an audio tour accessible to all…
This historical trail allows visitors to discover the past of Villé's town center through various iconic sites and other, lesser-known locations. A rich and concise history spanning the centuries is recounted:
- The origin of the town centre: the "Schloessel" and the first fortifications;
- The importance of the city's textile and hydraulic past;
- The variety of architecture in Villoise: the art nouveau house, the neoclassical style town hall, the house with a Vosges character;
- The story of little Joseph Meister, the first human vaccinated against rabies by Louis Pasteur;
- The presence of different places of worship: church, Protestant temple, synagogue;
- The old station and its major role in supplying the front during the First World War: the "Lordonbahn".
How it works ?
