The Vosges Club

The Vosges Club…What? You don't know it?!

It is thanks to them that you can hike in Alsace and in a large part of the Vosges Mountains.
They add color to the forest with their markings (ring-disc-easel-cross-rectangle-diamond) changing from green to yellow or from blue to red.

Founded in 1872 in Saverne, the Vosges Club today has several missions such as marking trails and protecting nature, which they invite you to come and visit.
This year therefore celebrates the 150th(entering XNUMXth grade) anniversary of the association.

For the record, it all started in the 1860s.
Inspired by the German model, the club was founded on October 31, 1872 and presided over until 1876 by Mr. Nuerburg.
Since its creation, the goal of the Club Vosgien has been to develop tourism in the Vosges Mountains by marking and making accessible hiking trails and paths.

Since 1897, the Club Vosgien has marked out (To celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary) the Crossing of the Vosges Massif commonly known as TMV.
The result? … 430 km of marked trails and paths, linking Wissembourg (Alsace) to Fesches-le Chatel (Franche-Comté).
This route now exists in a mountain bike version with special signage and offers approximately 418 km with 9370 meters of elevation gain. It connects Wissembourg to Thann.

In 2022, the Club Vosgien brings together 130 associations taking care of 20.000 km of trails and forest paths in 6 departments: Bas-Rhin / Haut-Rhin / Vosges / Territoire de Belfort / Meurthe et Moselle / Moselle.
Today the Vosges Club has extended its activities to the Paris region and even into the Guard.

This association is entirely made up of volunteers who are passionate about nature and hiking.

Our valley is represented in the Vosges Club, as there is an active branch that maintains our trails. The Vosges Club of Villé and its Valleys is chaired by Patrick Raynaud.
This section has been ffounded on February 3, 1884 under the name "Club Vosgien – Section Villé".

This section regularly offers outings in the valley, often accompanied by a warm moment over a drink or some treats.
