The Street Art Museum with Audrey and her family

We arrive in Neuf-Brisach. The effective signage leads us directly to the museum.
We enter the ramparts of the fortified city, a UNESCO-listed monument built by Vauban between 1698 and 1704, and then the museum.

"STREET ART"

At the reception desk, a smiling young woman informs us that the 1200m² museum has been open since July 2018, operating on a phased basis. It is dedicated to contemporary art, meaning that internationally renowned artists come for residencies to create murals in front of visitors. The museum is constantly evolving; today it will not be the same as tomorrow, and the number of artworks changes regularly.

After a brief explanation of the different artists, she suggested two little games: first, a search for the yellow men throughout the museum. A Belgian stencil artist, who works as a cleaner in Brussels, has depicted several men in their work clothes in different rooms. The second game involves finding the black letter XX, which represents the artist's signature.

Around fifteen casemates are devoted to this street art (each has its own style): 3D representing a reunified Germany, graffiti created using phosphorescent paint, and a more than realistic portrait of Vauban.

We searched for different people such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Mickey Mouse in one room and in another bunker, we were immersed in the warm atmosphere of Brazil.
I heard "wow" from my teenagers, which is quite rare in a museum! They even asked to go back when there is an artist in residence.

This museum is an opportunity to discover this urban culture (which is not very well known to rural people), which can now be seen in places other than major cities.
If you have teenagers, it's a detour worth making!
