The Villé valley is home to an important Natura 2000 area: « WallVillé and Ried de la Schernetz »It covers approximately 2,068 hectares, including 1,150 hectares of forests and 918 hectares of agricultural land, and extends across 18 municipalities. This site is home to 25 types of habitats of European interest, 14 animal species of European interest, and 1 plant species of European interest.
Natura 2000 targets species and natural habitats that are particularly threatened and of high conservation value in Europe. The presence of these species and habitats is an indicator of healthy ecosystems and thus supports a multitude of other animal and plant species (sometimes protected and/or listed on the Red List of Threatened Species, even if they are not classified as being of European interest). Protecting these species and habitats of European interest effectively protects the overall diversity of ecosystems and their inhabitants.
Sorting of waste
During your stay in the Villé Valley, we encourage you to help preserve our environment by following the recycling guidelines of the Central Alsace Waste Management Authority (SMICTOM). Packaging and paper should be placed in the designated bins, while glass should be taken to the appropriate collection points. Food scraps can be deposited in the bio-waste collection points located throughout the area. Non-recyclable waste should be disposed of with regular household garbage. For bulky or specialized items, local waste disposal centers are available. Thank you for your cooperation: every little bit helps preserve the beauty and quality of life in our valley.
