Whisky La Planche des Belles Filles – Silver Medal
The Grandes Distilleries Peureux Massenez were awarded a silver medal at the 2026 Paris International Agricultural Show for their La Planche des Belles Filles whisky. Launched in late 2024 in Fougerolles, this fruity single malt has already been a great success, with 10,000 bottles sold in one year.
Aged alongside casks that previously held fruit brandies, this whisky blends innovation and tradition, perfectly embodying the distillery's historical expertise. Round, structured, and fruity, it is best enjoyed neat at room temperature.
History of the Massenez distillery
- 1870: Jean-Baptiste Massenez opens the distillery in the Villé Valley.
- 1913: Eugène Massenez distills wild raspberry for the first time, a success with the Swedish court.
- 1950: Gabriel Eugène Massenez develops the brand in haute cuisine and collaborates with great starred chefs.
- 1979: Inauguration of a new distillery in Urbeis by Paul Bocuse.
- 2010: Massenez joins forces with Grandes Distilleries Peureux, strengthening its presence in France and internationally.
The distillery continues to innovate with a range of fruity and premium whiskies, while preserving its artisanal DNA.
Mirabelle plum brandy – Silver medal
The Jos Nusbaumer artisanal distillery in Steige also received an award at the Concours Général Agricole for its mirabelle plum brandy. Aged for 6 to 12 months in oak barrels, it reveals all the finesse and roundness of the fruit, for a pure and elegant tasting experience.
The Nusbaumer Distillery
Founded in 1947 by Joseph Nusbaumer, the distillery perpetuates a family tradition of over 70 years. Awarded the Living Heritage Company label, it combines artisanal quality, respect for the land and innovation, notably with the simultaneous distillation of cereals, fruits and plants.
Plum jam – Silver medal
Les Délices de Joséphine, based in Bassemberg, won a silver medal for their Alsatian plum jam. Founded by Monique, the company perpetuates a family heritage by offering homemade, locally sourced jams, compotes, syrups, and gingerbread, all without additives.
Made from organically or sustainably grown fruit and artisanal honey, these products offer an explosion of authentic flavors. Winners of several national awards, they are a true source of pride for the Valley.
Christophe Cunin's Honeys – Gold and Silver Medal
Christophe Cunin, a beekeeper in Bassemberg, distinguished himself at the honey competition organized by the beekeepers' union of the Villé Valley:
- Forest honey: Gold medal
- Acacia honey and chestnut honey: Silver medals
Located in the heart of the valley, Christophe Cunin produces high-quality local honeys, respecting the hives and biodiversity. He also offers training courses and guided tours for beekeeping enthusiasts.
NYD Restaurant in Breitenbach – Michelin Green Star
Chef Julien Schaffhauser and his restaurant NYD, attached to the 48° Nord hotel in Breitenbach, have received a green star from the Michelin Guide 2026, rewarding their eco-responsible commitment.
The restaurant prioritizes local produce, sourced within a 50km radius, and relies on an organic vegetable garden. Its seasonal, sharing-style cuisine showcases Alsatian terroir while minimizing food waste. This distinction highlights NYD's exemplary commitment to sustainable gastronomy and regional promotion.
