Meeting the cherry trees
A symbol of renewal, cherry blossoms offer a fleeting yet magical spectacle each spring, from late March to mid-April. Their dazzling white blossoms transform the landscape in just a few days. Found in our countryside and in many orchards, these fruit trees thrive in full sun and adapt to a wide variety of climates.
Native to Asia Minor and Europe, the cherry tree has been cultivated for over two millennia. Today, it is found in all corners of the world, as much for the beauty of its blossoms as for its fruit, harvested between May and the end of July depending on the variety.
Beyond its agricultural value, the cherry tree holds a special place in many cultures. In Japan, for example, its blossoming is celebrated every year during Hanami.

Route description:
Starting from the Saint-Martin town hall car park, go up rue du Calvaire and take the path on the left marked with a yellow cross and a red circle.
This path splits in two: stay left and follow the yellow cross marker to go up Rue du Moulin, then Rue du Stade, and finally Rue de la Fontaine.
After the intersection, at the bear statue, take the stairs on the left and go up the path. On the road, turn left and follow the small cherry sign towards the town hall.
After the town hall, turn left onto Rue du Presbytère, cross the Mont-Saint-Odile road. Continue along Rue du Beau Regard, then Rue de la Paix until you reach the intersection with Rue des Vosges. Cross this street and take the dirt path that goes uphill.
Follow the cherry markers and cross large fields. Stay on this path and ignore those branching off to the right and left. Once in the forest, continue straight ahead at the first intersection. At the second intersection, take the path that descends.
At the edge of the forest, go down to the left and turn right onto Rue des Fraises. At the bottom of the street, turn left, then left again onto Rue des Roses. Rue des Roses becomes a path; follow it to Saint-Martin.
At the intersection with the Hohwald road, take the alley on the other side, to the right. Follow it to the Calvaire street and return to the starting point.
