A lovely family outing

Sunday afternoon, 17°C, sunny. The perfect opportunity to take the bikes and scooters out in the middle of winter! We wanted to share our afternoon route with you. To avoid the main road, we decided to put the bikes and scooters in the car and head towards the Roman road in Saint Pierre Bois. We parked near the farm, and the children hopped on their bikes, while we took our scooters (yes, we're big kids at heart).

Objective: to take the old salt road to get to the Huhnelmuhle in Scherwiller.

"A walk we really enjoyed and recommend."

The road is in very good condition and the route is pleasant: we can hear goats in the distance, the stream (the Giessen) is just below, and we have an unobstructed view of Haut-Koenigsbourg.

Even though there are some slopes, they are not too steep and the descents come quickly… No time for the youngest to get discouraged.

The route is well used: we have indeed met pedestrians, experienced cyclists, but also amateurs.

It took us a little less than 2 hours to do the round trip, including a few breaks (drink, snack, pee, photos…).

So yes, it's a great walk to do with the family, and above all safe… (we only encountered one car at the end of the route, and that was after the barrier).

The good idea:

A picnic area along the route for sunny days!

The other plus:

The route is shaded, so it's ideal for spring, summer, autumn and presumably also with a winter like we're experiencing this year!

What the children liked best:

The downhill runs, the ability to let off steam and the pleasure of having taken a deep breath of fresh air all together.
